Governance

Governance rests on the recognition that nature-based solutions are better developed when people and organizations collaborate. The institute of Governance in the region is at a very early stage of development. However, the pilot case for kindergartens in Armenia shows that it is possible to bring together Local Authorities, Public Charity organization, research organization and just citizens to work together and put efforts for the maintenance of NBS and its management. Nevertheless, there is still no joint strategy on this point yet.

It was attempted as part of the Connecting Nature project to apply NBS Framework and develop workflow for mainstreaming NBS into urban land use plans applying Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) process where it is already mandatory (e.g. in Georgia), based on experiences from application of NBS Impact Assessment methodology to SEA of urban plans. Such approaches were piloted at least in two cases in Georgia (city of Kutaisi and small coastal settlement of Grigoleti).
